AGM 2009 on 14 Nov 2009 & Subsequent Executive Committee Meeting

The Third MSAA Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday, 14th November 2009 at 6:30 pm at St. Francis Xavier’s School, 60-64, Ham Tin Street, Tsuen Wan, New Territories, Hong Kong.. The following members were elected to the Executive Committee for a tenure of two years:

  • Lo Man Hung, Michael
  • Wong Yiu Ting, William
  • Lau Kam Wai, Ray
  • Ng Yu Kin, Kenneth
  • Hin Wai Hung
  • Wong Johnny

In the subsequent Executive Committee Meeting held, Dr. Ng Yu Kin, Kenneth was elected the President,  Mr. Leung Kam Keung, Arthur the Vice President, Mr. Chau Tsun Yin, Dickson, the Secretary, and Mr. Wong Yiu Ting, William, the Treasurer of MSAA Executive Committee for 2009-2011.

 

Shanghai Visit (18-21 Sept 2009)

More than 30 members from the SFXS (Tsuen Wan), SFXC (Kowloon) and the alumni associations joined the delegation led by the Principal of SFXS, Chong Man Ho 團長, to the old school premises of SFXC Shanghai, which is now the Bei Hong School ( http://bhgj.hkedu.sh.cn/index1.asp ), and attended its 135th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony. The key events included:

(1) SFXS/SFXC Dinner gathering at Xian Qiang Fang Restaurant 鮮牆房 at 1830 hrs on 19th Sept (Saturday),

(2) 135th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony on 20th Sept (Sunday), and

(3) A Bei Hung Thank-you Dinner 答謝晚宴(王朝大酒店) in the evening on 20th Sept (Sunday).

15 Mar 2009 - Annual SFX Golf Tournament

The SFX Golf Tournament held on March 15, 2009 again saw the the Tsuen Wan Alumni winning the trophy. They have consecutively won the trophy for 5 years.

Let us see how the Kowloon Alumni react to this on the next round of competition.

 

 

8 Mar 2009 - Prize presentation, SFX team won the Inter-Alumni Associations Basketball championship title early

A league of 5 schools - St. Francis Xavier's College, Ming Yin College, Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Secondary School, Kowloon Technical School, Ming Kei College - competed with matches touring around all participating schools.

The SFX alumni basketball team has won us the championship. Team members included Ho Ling Tong (K64), Tony Ho (K74), Michael Ho (K74), Tsang Pak Chung (K75), Poon Siu Chong (K75), Elvin Kan (K77), Wan Tak Cheong Johnny (K78), Ho Ling Kai (K78), Ferrick Chu (K81), Jonathan Chan (K87), Gary Wong (K89)

 

 

31 Jan 2009 (Saturday) - Chinese New Year Gathering with Brothers and Birthday Dinner with Brother Joseph Chang

Alumni associations of the schools organized a Chinese New Year gathering with Marist Brothers in the afternoon on 31 Jan 2009 at SFXC Kowloon. A birthday dinner with Brother Joseph Chang followed at 6 pm (reception) and 7 pm (dinner) in the evening at Tin Heung Restaurant at Tong Mei Road, at walking distance from SFXC.

All old boys shared great joy in joining the gathering, and some 50 participated in the dinner in the evening.

31 May 2008 - MSAA Annual Dinner

Participants filled 16 tables at Yi Yat Hin, The Police Sports and Recreation Club,警察體育遊樂會怡逸軒 on 31 May. Alumni of both schools had invited the Brothers and retiring teachers to join. The hightlights of entertainment programme included sponsoring teacher Yeung Wing Hon, Alumni Lam Kin, and Bro. John to sing to raise money for the two schools. A total of HK$30,000 was collected on the spot, half of which went to supporting modification work of classrooms in SFXS.

 

 

2 April 2008 - Buffet Party to celebrate Brother Bosco's 80th Birthday

Around 120 alumni and staff of SFXC and SFXS gathered together in the Champagnat Hall to chat and share the joy with Br Bosco. The highlights of the party were the slide show of photos of Br Bosco from childhood to the present and the warm birthday messages from old pals overseas. It was definitely a cosy family celebration not only with the local alumni and staff members but also with relatives and friends who have flown all the way from Beijing and overseas just for the function.

16 Feb 2008 New-Year Visit to Brothers

Some thirty alumni participated in the New-Year Visit to Brothers on 16 Feb 2008, Saturday, at 3:00 to 4:30 pm. All were happy to greet the Brothers, Brother Bosco, Brother Joseph, school principals, teachers and others, and to catch up with some fellow students once in a year.

13 Dec 2007- Visit of Brother Sean Sammon

Brother Sean Sammon, Brother Superior General of the Institute of the Marist Brothers of the Schools, has met the Marist School Leaders, the boys of SFXS, Tsuen Wan and the staff of both SFXC and SFXS, in his official visit to Hong Kong on 13 December 2007.

Constitutional Reform in EGM & AGM 2007 held on 15 September 2007

On 15 September 2007, the SFX Alumni Association held an Extraordinary Meeting in which the constitution was amended, to close the final chapter in our series of constitutional evolutions highlighting our role as the centre point of nexus with Marist Brothers and Marist ex-students from around the world. The two SFX schools alumni bodies in Hong Kong now focus on serving old boys from respective schools. The name of our Alumni was changed to Marist Schools Alumni Association (Hong Kong). The new constitution is available here.

In the AGM that followed, the committee of term 2007-2009 was elected.

Thanksgiving mass

Bro. Denis and Bro. Rudolf celebrated respectively their 75th and 50th Anniversary of Religious Profession on 2nd October 2004 (Saturday). A thanksgiving mass was held at SFXC, Kowloon for old boys and friends of SFX to join together and convey our blessings to the Brothers. Requiem Mass

The Requiem Mass for Bro. Leo Bauer, F.M.S. (died on 24th August 2004) and Bro. Laurent Tung, F.M.S. (died on 14th August 2004) was held on 24th September, 2004 (Friday) at Chapel, St. Francis Xavier's College, Kowloon. Read Bro Heinz's message about Bro Leo here.

Salvage the Boat

SFX Alumni Dinner Dance

Our grand gathering dinner was held on 8 February, 2003 (Saturday) with 28 tables of Brothers, teachers, old boys and guests, together making up a wonderful night.. It's specially named SFX Alumni Dinner Dance, since we had had Chinese-style banquets for a few years and returned back to our classic, traditional formal western-style dinner dance. World Cup Nite

30 June 2002 was a big day for all Brazilians and us SFX old boys alike when well over a hundred of us witnessed the birth of the 5-time champion of FIFA World Cup and shared the joy with Brazil in a carnival held at the Champagnat Hall of SFXC.

 

First Happy Hours Gathering 2002

The first Happy Hours Gathering this year was held on 17 May, 2002. Around 20 old boys from different decades joined and had a casual chat.
