Annual Gathering 2002
Watch out! Annual Gathering 2002 is coming! With the perfect
timing: two months after the School Hall Farewell "Basin Banquet"
in SFXS and the Good Old Days' Night in December, 2001, you and your
old buddies will enjoy a spring dinner reunion brought to you again
by the Alumni.
Details of the event are here:
Date: 23rd February, 2002 (Saturday)
Venue: Maxim's Palace Chinese Restaurant, Grand Century Plaza, Mong
Kok (旺角 新世紀廣場 美心皇宮大酒樓)
Ticket Fee: $400
In the past, raffle tickets were sold to raise fund for
our mother schools. This year, there will no longer be raffle tickets
selling. Instead, a little premium has already been included to make
up for the target fund. All of us can therefore be rest assured that
we can spend more time chatting, sharing and reminiscing.
The alumni family has been growing and our past activities
have been transcending age, geographies and people, including old boys
and our beloved Brothers. While we begin involving more past and current
teachers in our events, we are going beyond that. Members of the Parent-Teacher
Association may join us for the first time!
As we believe personal touch is far more important than
an invitation card, we would like to designate the job of inviting teachers
to every old boy. The Alumni committee will invite Brothers as in the
past. If you and your old friends would like to invite any of your beloved
former teachers, you may contact and invite them personally. The Alumni
will be most happy to assist in providing the contact method.
Annual Gathering 2002 will be in the form of a traditional
Chinese feast. It will be enjoyable for you and your family members
alike! Act fast, register now! Use the registration overleaf or email
sfxaa@hkstar.com.

Report on Decade Reunion 2001
The Decade Reunion dinner for the year 2001 was held together
with the Alumni AGM on 7 July 2001 at the Champagnat Hall of SFXC. This
time, old boys with graduation year ending with "1" were the
hosts of the event while all other old boys were welcome to join as
guests. We had a happy gathering with nearly 100 participants. Over
20 teachers and brothers joined and enjoyed it.
The atmosphere was warm and harmonious as many old boys
had not met for a long time since graduation. They quickly grouped together
in small circles. This is natural for long-lost friends. In years to
come, we hope these circles could go beyond the boundary of year and
people, and there could be even more interactions among old boys of
different years and teachers, making this family event as memorable
and meaningful as can be.
Many alumni were particularly interested in the photo
exhibition which presented both SFX schools' premises development in
the past decades. Some of the alumni's own old photos in school time
were displayed too. Many old boys were able to find their young faces.
The photos did arouse numerous rounds of "guess-who-and-when"
and brought the reminiscences of all the participants to the good old
days.
Some old boys thought that the event would be much greater
if there was a larger number of participants. This could be, in fact,
partly due to the relatively short time of preparation, and partly due
to inadequate liaison officers. The organization committee is formed
every year by a handful of alumni. They share the workload of both organizing
the event and contacting people. Should some people dedicate their time
doing the liaison while some others dedicate in the event preparation
only, the message could be more widespread.
Likewise, the number of participating teachers could be
increased if more old boys could take the initiate to invite their former
teachers and put in effort to give the teachers kind of "home"
feeling. After all, it is personal touch that our beloved teachers and
Brothers treasure most. May we hope that future decade reunions will
attract even more teachers and alumni!
